What is a Number Question?
When used in a Form action, a Number question displays a box where users can enter their answer to the question. The box will only accept numbers as input.
A Number question as it appears on the User Application is seen below.
NOTE: A Text question in a Form action can also be set to accept Numeric inputs only. For example, when you want to collect a number that has a 0 at the front (like a telephone number), to ensure the number is not used for calculations, use a Text question instead. For more information, see Text Questions.
Setting Up a Number Question
To add a Number question to a Form action, select it from the list in the Action Editor. You can then start setting up the Number question. For more information, see Setting Up a Form Action.
Advanced Options
Under a Number question's Advanced options section, you can set up the following:
- Input Format: the format of the expected input. This is set to Number by default, with the other options being Currency and Percentage. Number means that the Answer can be any numeric value, Currency means any other currency, and Percentage means that a Percent sign will be added automatically to the Answer.
-
- If set to any of the options, you can also optionally check the Use 1,000 separator box, change the default decimal places from 2 to another number, and change the default format for negative numbers.
- If set to Currency, you are required to enter the currency symbol, and either retain or change the default symbol position from Before Number to After Number.
-
- Default value: the default numeric value displayed on the answer box. This is blank by default.
- Max. No of Characters in answer: The character limit for answers.
- Set a minimum amount: The minimum amount that can be entered in the answer box. If the answer is lower than the minimum amount, the user is barred from proceeding to the next question.

Set a minimum number of numerals after the decimal point: The minimum number of decimal places that can be entered in the answer box. This is blank by default, meaning the number of decimal places may be 0 or any number as required. - Set a maximum number of numerals after the decimal point: The maximum number of decimal places that can be entered on the answer box. This is blank by default, meaning the number of decimal places may be 0 or any number as required.
- Button name: Form actions are set to be non-scrollable by default, meaning you have to click a button at the bottom of each Question page to go to the next question. The button name is set to Continue by default. You can set a new name for the button here.
- Conditional Questions: Each question type you can use in a Form action can be set to include Conditional Questions, if required. With Conditional questions, a question can be made to appear or disappear, depending on certain conditions. For more information, see Conditional Questions.
